  • Director of Media Relations, Fairfax County (VA) Police Department: In two years FCPD’s social media presence soared, increasing its Twitter following from 100,000 to nearly 250,000.

Emilie (Voss) Eager

Emilie brings a diverse background to the team, merging her media, law enforcement and public relations expertise to better serve our clients. Previously, Julie hired her to help lead the Media Relations Bureau for the Fairfax County Police Department in Virginia. While there she graduated from the PERF Senior Management Institute for Police. She was also honored as a 3-time Emmy award winning journalist during an extensive broadcast career. Emilie joins Julie Parker Communications after overseeing public relations for CARFAX, a leading brand in automotive.

Ran Northam

Communications Consultant & Instructor

Ran successfully led public information campaigns for the Town of Chapel Hill (NC) and its public safety departments during multiple crises, including two major water utility outages, weather emergencies, high-profile homicide investigations, and personnel incidents. He was the first civilian PIO for the Chapel Hill Police and Fire departments. He has received more than 15 state and national awards for his communication efforts, including NC3C’s Chris Coulson Communicator of the Year Award.

Emily offers invaluable insight to our clients through her extensive work assisting organizations elevate their digital presence. Her deep knowledge of media strategy, social media content development and social media strategy expands our offerings and training. Emily previously worked for the California State Assembly and the nationwide public affairs firm, Dewey Square Group in Sacramento, CA.

Jennifer Zeunik

Jennifer joins our team bringing extensive experience in public administration, law enforcement organizations and practices, nonprofit management, government grants and contracts, community engagement, and organizational leadership. She most recently served as a senior director at the National Policing Institute where she led safety and justice programs nationwide, which included writing after-action reports and critical incident debriefs. For our firm, Jen is currently focused on building in-depth, customized crisis communications plans for organizations.

Chief Armstrong comes to us as one of the nation’s top law enforcement leaders in the areas of community outreach & engagement and police reform and is a sought-after contributor for media outlets and panel discussions & trainings in the areas of leadership, police reform and community engagement. Chief Jason Armstrong is the current police chief for a town in North Carolina and was previously chief of police for the Ferguson (Missouri) Police Department.

Christina Cotterman

Christina’s breadth of law enforcement media expertise is an asset to both our organization and clients alike. Her expertise is in crisis communications, press release/blog writing and social media content development and strategy. Christina currently works as the Deputy Director of Media Relations at one of the largest police departments in the country and previously worked for Fox News and ABC7 News in Washington, DC.

Chris Covelli

Chris is a seasoned instructor with a focus on external and crisis communications, media training and social media messaging. He is lead spokesperson for a large Chicagoland law enforcement agency, managing all external communications and serving in an executive management role. Throughout his career, Chris has been the lead media spokesperson during hundreds of incidents.

Kristen Hunter

Kristen’s extensive background in social media management, community engagement and crisis communications is an asset to Julie Parker Communications. She has been a law enforcement public information officer in North Carolina for more than a decade. A Maryland native, Kristen worked both on and off the air at TV news stations in Baltimore and North Carolina before making the switch to law enforcement.

Angela Ingram

Angela, who is also an attorney, brings a broad set of marketing and communication skills to our team. She works for a major law enforcement agency as a public affairs manager specializing in community relations and crisis communications. She combines her police experience with more than two decades as a broadcast journalist to conduct media and social media training for police public information officers.

Genevieve Judge

Genevieve assists with our social media management and offers instruction across all areas of communication.  She is a law enforcement public information officer in Florida and was a TV news anchor/reporter before moving into law enforcement in 2013. Genevieve is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating partnerships, community policing communication strategies, and public information campaigns on a local, national, and international level.

Suzanne Kennedy

A true master at crafting and delivering effective messaging, Suzanne ably trains and educates our clients. She is a three-time Emmy award-winner for her on-camera reporting over two decades at WJLA-TV in Washington, DC. She most recently was a vice president at a strategic communications firm and a crisis communications consultant during the COVID-19 pandemic. She specializes in public relations, media training and crisis communications.

Nelly Miles

Nelly brings a wealth of public communications acumen to our team with expertise in crisis communications, crafting news releases, and social media content development and strategy. She serves as a public safety policy expert, acting as a legislative liaison between a government agency and the Georgia legislature. Nelly is Chair of the PIO Committee for the Association of State Criminal Investigative Agencies (ASCIA) in addition to her service on multiple committees and boards.

Katie Nelson

Katie has been the social media and public relations coordinator at a Silicon Valley-based law enforcement agency since 2015. She presents across the country on social media best practices and crisis communication strategies, served as the General Chair of the International Association of Chiefs of Police Public Information Officers Section, and is a recipient of the IACP 40 Under 40 Award.

Leslie Rhode

Leslie provides media training as well as presents the art of distinct messaging through speech and video presentation preparation to our clients. Throughout her 20-year career as a TV news anchor and reporter in Washington, DC and Austin, she interviewed hundreds of people, to include President George W. Bush. Leslie has worked with leaders in health care, education and government agencies.

Ashley (James) Wilson

Ashley is an award-winning journalist specializing in media training and effective public speaking and presentation. She most recently anchored Good Morning Maryland in Baltimore. Ashley also worked for the Fox News Channel and local stations in Salisbury, Maryland, and Toledo, Ohio. In Toledo, she was responsible for a weekly franchise called “Most Wanted Wednesday,” which helped law enforcement catch upwards of 100 suspects. Ashley has an M.B.A. with a concentration in Homeland Security.
